**The rule is the Harry Potter series can’t be included in any of the answers 🙂 Just to make things interesting.

flagrateA book you found the theme interesting, but you’d like to rewrite.

Slade House by David Mitchell

This is a collection of short ghost stories about people who enter Slade House and never return. I’ve watched three or four Booktubers give it very positive reviews. I’m not denying it wasn’t well-written or undeserving of the accolades, but boy, towards the end I was confused. The last short story clears things up a little bit. I would definitely want to keep characters to a minimum and make the stories spookier.

alohomora
The first book in a series that got you hooked.

The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz

Private Eye Izzie Spellman is one of the funniest characters I’ve had the pleasure of reading – EVER.

accio
A book you wish you could have right now.

Asking For It by Louise O’Neill

This is a weird book for me to be dying to read, but I am. I loved Louise O’Neill’s first book, Only Ever Yours. This story revolves around Emma, an 18 year old who goes to a party and wakes up the next morning on her front porch. She doesn’t remember what happened, but everyone else does. It’s about dealing with harassment in the age of social media.

avadakedavra
A killer book. Both senses. Take it as you like.

Hungergames_poster
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

How can I not include this when Katniss kicks ass?

confundo
A book that you found very confusing.

Anthem of a Reluctant Prophet by Joanne Proulx

“Stan,” I said, and I said it kind of loud so of course he had to look up. “Tomorrow morning: 8:37. The red van with the out-of-state plates? You go head to head. You lose. You die.”

The small town of Stokum is abuzz after Luke Hunter freakishly foretells his friend’s death. The concept is very interesting and Proulx starts off strong, but towards the middle and ending I stopped caring about Luke. He became more philosophical and withdrawn, and so did I.

epectopatronum
Your spirit animal book.

TheLionWitchWardrobe(1stEd)
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

I’m assuming this means a story with animals, so I’m choosing one of my childhood favourites.

spetumsemtra
A dark, twisted book.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

Oh, how I loved every thrilling second.

adaasd
A book that surprised you in a great way.

The_Fault_in_Our_Stars
The Fault in our Stars by John Green

I was late to the game when I picked this up. The movie might have already come out. At the time I didn’t read much YA and wasn’t sure what to expect. Now, The Fault in our Stars is one of my favourites!

nominees

I’m not nominating anyone because I don’t know anyone who would like to do this. If you read my post and are interested, I nominate you!
