[Top 10 Tuesday is a book blog meme hosted by the wonderful The Broke and the Bookish because who doesn’t love top 10 lists!]
It’s time for another Top Ten! This week’s topic is Ten TV Shows I Wish Never Got Cancelled.
Brothers & Sisters
Secrets surface after the patriarch of the Walker family dies. Not only does he leave behind a business, Ojai Foods, but also a mistress. The family consists of William Walker’s wife, Nora (played by the incomparable Sally Field), Sarah and Tommy – who are executives in the family business, Kitty – a conservative activist, Kevin – a lawyer, and Justin – an Afghan war vet who returned to the States with a substance abuse problem. So drama, drama, drama.
Hmmm…Jason O’Mara….ANYWAYS, this police procedural is about a group of lawyers called the National Justice League focusing on freeing wrongly convicted criminals. They are led by David Swain, a wealthy and successful lawyer and his lead investigator, Charles Conti, former police detective. Each episode shows “what the jury believed” and what really happened.
This classic is almost back guys! I’m so excited. If you haven’t seen Gilmore Girls, have you been living under a rock for the past 10 years? The story follows Lorelai and Rory Gilmore living a quirky, small-town life in Stars Hollow, Connecticut. With speedy dialogue, romance, and drama abound.
If you don’t watch for anything else, watch for ERIC NORTHMAN.
I miss my Thursday nights on Global. Rookie Blue is a police drama set in Toronto 🙂 The story follows five rookie officers from 15 Division who’ve just graduated from the academy.
“You know you love me, XOXO, Gossip Girl”
I’m not sure why I loved watching overprivileged brats jet set, spend crazy amounts of money, fight, and sleep around – but I did. What entertainment. (I was also younger when this show came out. Could explain a lot.)
Great show focusing on the lives of three nurses. Veronica has returned to New Jersey from a tour of Iraq (and a love affair with a doctor), her best friend Sonia has become serious with her police officer boyfriend, and Chloe has just graduated top of her class and unprepared for what nursing entails.
Do you have any regrets? Would you go back in time to change history? Erica Strange is 32, single, unemployed but well-educated. After Erica is fired from her dead end job, she enters a coffee shop. She has a nut allergy but accidentally drinks coffee with nut syrup in it and is taken to the hospital. There she meets “Dr. Tom” who is a therapist that can help her undo her many mistakes.
Republic of Doyle
Former police officer, Jake Doyle, teams up with his father Malachy Doyle to solve cases – although not all of them are on the right side of the law.
I can’t recommend Veronica Mars enough. She is a high school student moonlighting as a private detective at her father’s PI firm, Mars Investigations. At the beginning of the first season, she is trying to solve her best friend’s murder (the murderer is a shocker!) and her rape since the sheriff and local police department have no interest in pursuing the wealthiest and most successful families in town. After three seasons, the show was cancelled and it’s safe to say I was heartbroken. Years later they kickstarted a movie, which I wasn’t crazy about, but at least it tied up some loose ends. Anyways, watch Veronica Mars – you won’t regret it.
