It’s time for another Top Ten! This week’s topic is my Top Ten Books I Can’t Believe I’ve Never Read. (This is a different top ten because I couldn’t think of what to do for this week)

Earlier this month I vowed to read six books – very specific six books that I felt embodied the Be Your Best You mindset. However, I got kind of sidetracked with a bunch of books on my hold list coming in and ended up only reading two from that list. Also, because I’ve started a new job, I haven’t been keeping up with my promise to review two books a month. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back on track in the next month or so…
MY STATS:
In the Country We Love by Diane Guerrero really stood out. If you haven’t heard of it or Diane, she’s an American actress on Orange is the New Black or my favourite, Jane the Virgin. Anyways, that’s not the reason she’s amazing. When she was fourteen, the U.S. government took her parents away. As undocumented immigrants, they were always at risk even though they spoke to lawyers and spent thousands of dollars trying to become U.S. citizens. What’s really heartbreaking is without close friends whose families were willing to care for her, she would have been on her own. No one from the U.S. Immigration office even bothering to make sure she was okay. When you’re middle-class American (or Canadian for that matter), it’s easy to take for granted how comfortable life is and not if you’re never going to see your family again. I’m highly recommending In the Country We Love!
