It’s time for another Top Ten! This week’s topic is Eight Underrated/Hidden Gem Books I’ve Read In The Past Year Or So.
Hello everyone,
I can’t believe it’s December already! Time for Hallmark holiday movies (they’re cheesy, but I’m obsessed), pumpkin spice lattes, and (freezing) cold weather. Luckily, that last one hasn’t happened… yet. Also, December marks my last month of the publishing certificate I started in May at Ryerson University and my sales and marketing internship.
Although I’ve been MIA for a couple months, I’ve still been reading and generally obsessed with all things pop culture related. This is what I’ve been excited about lately:
This is simply a catchy song and I love it. I’ve definitely listened to this song on repeat (for the entire day) at work.
2. Why Not Me? and basically anything by Mindy Kaling
Why not her? She gives great advice and puts certain life experience into perspective. She is an actress, comedian, producer, and the list goes on. Her strength as a female pop culture icon makes her a great role model. Plus, her show is hilarious!
3. So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson
This book is an interesting case study of people who’ve had the misfortune of being part of the social media generation and they aren’t afraid to use it. Jon Ronson theorizes about online mob mentality when it comes to public shaming in a very humorous and honest way.

4. Motive, CTV
This is a Canadian police procedural drama, similar to Criminal Minds. Each episode reveals the killer and victim in the beginning. Initially, I thought it would give too much information away and was akin to reading the end of the book first. But I found that it’s more suspenseful this way and there are always twists that you don’t see coming. I watched all three seasons in two weeks – it helps that the cast is gorgeous 🙂

5. Gilmore Girls on Netflix 2016
I grew up watching this show with my mom and my sister. My family and I don’t always get along and I envied the close relationship of Rory and Lorelai, even when they were arguing. When the show ended, I was very unhappy with the open endedness of Rory’s job prospects, her relationship with Logan (which was very much love-hate), and Lorelai’s engagement with Luke. Soon, in 2016, my prayers maybe answered. I can’t wait!
